Energy management systems help to improve processes and optimize energy use by using available resources and improving efficiencies. Engineering studies that have been done to improve energy use are described in this paper.

  • Gas recovery in Block 67 for power generation; this gas used to be burned in the flare stack. The gas recovered passes through a compression system, sending it to the fluid line to be transported to the Northern Production Facility (NPF), hence, avoiding the burning of greenhouse gases.

  • Energy use optimization in the oil transportation system. Evaluation of the pump performance curves determined that the engine needed to be changed because the installed capacity did not allow optimization. This change decreased energy consumption and improved efficiency.

Simple examples as those mentioned above help to be energy-efficient and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
