In the present work a mathematical model was developed to obtain numerical simulations to describe the 3D single-phase fluid flow within one stage of a centrifugal pump used in the Electrical Submersible Pumping (ESP) systems. Simulations were performed with ANSYS® CFX® software and the results for pressure fields and velocity profiles were analyzed and compared to pump manufacturer curves. Three non-structured meshes were evaluated and two turbulence models were implemented to verify convergence and the model precision.
