Texaco has been experimenting with a mini-fracture stimulation process to increase production in the Kern River Field of California. 33 wells have been treated to date with average oil production doubled. A recent fracture stimulation test performed with surface and downhole tiltmeters resulted in significant cost saving due to reduced treatment size and reduced fluid injection. Texaco is planning on extending the test of the process to the rest of the Kern River field in 1999.
