Abstract
The heavy oil deposit of Kuwait consists of a viscous low API Gravity Crude occurring at shallow depths. The reservoir Temperature is low because of the shallow depths. The areal extent of this deposit is quite large as this is encountered in every well in the entire area, covering several fields.
The Geological age of the deposit is middle Eocene and corresponds to the well Known Asmari Limestone of Iran. The sequence of reservoir stratigraphy from top to bottom can be descrihed as:
Cap rock shale which acts as the top of entrapment
Upper tongue of reservoir sand
Intermediate shale member
Lower tongue of the reservoir sand
Bottom shale, which is the reservoir boundary.
