Abstract
Miscible displacement experiments were carried out in a number of matrix/fracture configurations. In all the experiments, fracture aperture was more than 150 microns, which exceeds field scale fracture thickness. Even with high fracture aperture, the miscible displacement process is shown to be very efficient. The injected fluid breaks through fast, but the injected solvent effluent concentration increases very slowly to about 1 PV injection. The results reveal that miscible displacement in fractured porous media can be a very efficient process.
