Up-to-date relations for oil/water-CO2 thermodynamics have been implemented in SARIP 1 , the IFP compositionnal thermal simulator.

Several field and laboratory cases of steam-CO2 injection and of in-situ combustion axe presented and discussed. In thermal processes, gaseous and oil-dissolved CO2 may improve the final oil recovery in thermal processes by only a few percent but significantly accelerate the oil recovery rate. CO2 dissolution in water, which is slightly detrimental, needs only to be taken into account at high water saturations.
