Abstract

From the beginning of 90's, volatile reservoirs have been frequently discovered in Western China. Systematic hydrocarbon miscible indoor studies were performed when drawing the development program of the reservoirs. The studies include physical experiments and EOS compositional modeling in 1D, 2D and 3D of miscible, near-miscible, immiscible and WAG drives. The paper summarizes main achievements of the studies on hydrocarbon miscible flooding and the recommended work flow path completed by the Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration and Development (RIPED). Some new understandings on hydrocarbon miscible mechanisms are also discussed.
