ABSTRACT
This paper demonstrates a new cationic surfactant SQ-G which is used as a clay swelling inhibiting additive in water-base crosslinked fracturing fluid. It has a better performance than other additives available for clay swelling inhibiting. In addition, it also plays some role in viscosity increasing, corrosion inhibiting, bacteria-killing and emulsion breaking etc..
This additive is added into the fracturing fluid during its preparation. Its advantages ares low amount of addition, no requirement of special equipment and technique, good compatibility with both fracturing and formation fluids and no formation damage.
A large number of in-house simulation tests and field tests have proved that the new additive has very good properties. Currently, it has been widely used in field operation, and good results are obtained.
