Associated gases are being collected and processed for natural gas liquids (NGL) recovery and market gas production in more and more fields, both onshore and offshore, for a better valorization of natural resources. The economical background of associated gas treatment is discussed and available methods for NGL recovery are reviewed and evaluated against technical criteria.

Economics of NGL recovery projects are provided for three typical examples: a major onshore project, a combination offshore-onshore project, and an offshore project.
