Respecting Human rights through Global Supply Chains has become a staple for international guidelines and standards in recent years. The main objective of this paper is to present the challenges that arise from Supply Chain management, particularly when it comes to capacity building of local content suppliers and respect of human rights and possible solutions that will help businesses to manage human rights risks within the supply chain proactively.

This paper performs an industry desktop benchmark exercise using as reference, available sources and industry reports, to understand how a selection of Oil and Gas (O&G) operators are dealing with human rights within their Supply Chain. It presents challenges and possible solutions that will help businesses to manage human rights risks within the supply chain proactively, specifically through a capacity building program.
