A goal of CO2 sequestration is to provide economically competitive and environmentally safe options to offset projected growth in baseline emissions of greenhouse gases. The sequestration of CO2 in subsurface formations is a gas storage process. Among the issues that must be considered in a gas storage project are verification of injected gas inventory and monitoring of injected gas migration. This paper uses an integrated flow model to assess the feasibility of monitoring CO2 sequestration in a mature oil field using time-lapse seismic analysis.
