No common definition of waste has been agreed upon in the Oil Industry, what is waste in some countries, represents valuable raw material to a multiude of small industries in others. This paper presents an initiative taken in an offshore field West of India by Schlumberger W&T, with the support of its main client, Oil and Natural Gas Commission, to better manage offshore wastes. International and Local regulations are discussed. Different types of wastes produced by the service company are identified and certain alternative technologies are presented. Finally, the program in place, the results thereof, successes and failures and future prospects are described.
