A task force was established within Geco-Prakla to evaluate the back deck safety of our vessels, with the objective to reduce back deck accidents. This was done by collecting existing safety reports and preparing, distributing and analysing a safety questionnaire sent to 25 vessels. On the basis of the findings and evaluations various modifications and changes to the existing equipment and procedures were implemented. Certification and maintenance procedures for handling and towing appliances and for high pressure air systems were established. A uniform marking of back deck safety zones as well as standardisation of the mechanical seismic equipment were implemented.
