With approximately 90 rigs around the world Sedco Forex operates in many different geographical areas. Health problems are common, be they work related or due to local disease.

Audits of rig medics have demonstrated that they possess very different levels of training and experience.

A multi-lingual doctor was designated to test each rig medic's proficiency, audit the rig infirmary and prepare a training program which includes a 5 day theoretical First Aid course and a 7 day hospital training period.

It is planned that each rig medic will be re-audited, re-trained and re-exposed to a hospital course at least once every 3 years to keep him up to level.
