New Employee Safety Training (NEST) is a training vehicle for new Schlumberger employees on safety and the environ-ment. The purpose of programs such as NEST is to begin an employee’s tenure with a strong emphasis on safety and an appreciation for the environment. Concern for safety and the environment should be as much a part of corporate culture as are service to clients and return to stockholders. A formal training program is an organized way to accomplish these goals.

The NEST curriculum includes five days of training in the areas of radiation, explosives, driving, water survival, fire fighting, first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), governmental regulations, hazardous materials and personal protective equipment. The program consists of classroom and hands-on training and testing.
