Contractor accident frequency on the Greater Ekofisk Platform were reduced by about 40% between 1981 and 1984. A further 50% reduction was attained during the period 1989-91. During 1987, the hours worked increased from the level of five million to over eleven million hours, without increase in contractor accident frequency. The paper discusses some of the programs which made possible the above accomplishments.
