From 1988 to 1991 an integrated surface and subsurface simulator was designed and constructed to assist the petroleum engineer in the development and management of gas fields. The developed Gas Field Planning Tool, GFPT, allows the user to define the business environment strategies of a field since it has not been customized for any particular field.

This paper briefly describes the GFPT functionality and the application of the simulator in the study of several development scenarios for a maturing gas field in a multi-disciplinary team enviroment.
