The recent introduction of gas-fired infrared heaters for use in the textile and papermaking industries has led to significant upgrading of the quality of the manufactured product and an often marked increase in machine productivity.

Three concrete examples are given, two in papermaking and one in the textile industry. In all three cases, users noted a clear energy savings (as high as 30%), but appreciated above all the possibility of higher machine operating speeds (5 to 10%) and the distinct improvement in quality, due to faster binding of deposited substances.
