GRI-sponsored research indicates that semirigid tubing systems are more cost-effective than conventional steel pipe systems for distributing natural gas inside residential dwellings. The combination of semirigid tubing and a hybrid pressure design provides the distribution system with several enhanced use features which will benefit the occupants of both single and multifamily homes. The MULTIFLEX approach makes the gas system more analogous to the household electric system. This translates into a more flexible system with three essential characteristics: expandability; accessibility; and adaptability.
