Horizontal well tests for gravel packing completions have been run for the last 10 months. This simulator was designed to create above ground, the same events and conditions that occur beyond the curve in horizontal and near-horizontal bore holes. The mock-up, forty four feet in length, consists of 18 feet in clear lucite tubing in three equal sections, connected alternately to 4 sections of 8-5/8″ casing. Located on each casing section are two 12″ by 1/2″ I.D. lucite tubes, one vertical and one horizontally mounted, with stainless steel needle valves for leak-off testing measurements. A 5″ slotted liner runs inside the full length of the simulator, and two rotary compactor vibration tools are placed inside the liner for evaluation of die vibraton factor.
