A large-scale wellbore model was used to study gravel transport through the perforations during a simulated, high-density, squeeze gravel-packing operation. The effects of fluid viscosity, gravel concentration, annular velocity and perforation leakoff rate were investigated. Slurry consistency is presented as a means of describing the combined effects of fluid viscosity, gravel concentration and size. Results show that transport efficiency increases with increased fluid viscosity, gravel concentration and annular velocity.
