In view of the toxic effects of hydrogen sulphide sour gas production systems must be carefully installed and safely operated. Investigation and assessment of greatest possible – although rare-accidents, such as a well blowout or a pipeline rupture, are necessary for the determination of safe distances and selection of appropriate measures for the minimization of potential effects. The calculation methods applied as well as the computer models used and the results obtained are described.
