Recent experience at Humbly Grove and at various Southern England environmentally sensitive locations has demonstrated that wells can be drilled without unacceptable intrusion and at reasonable costs. While Southern England is an area that is particularly sensitive to any industrial encroachment a drilling programme conducted during 1985 and 1986 has helped to prove that exploration, appraisal and development wells can be drilled in an environmentally acceptable manner. Particular attention was paid by the Operator to a close working relationship with the planning and environmental officers, and the use of innovative methods of noise suppression and operational efficiency.
