In this paper methods are presented for calculating:

  • the reduction in permeability across faulted reservoir sections, and

  • the recovery factor in fluvial reservoirs.

Conceptual and stochastic modelling methods are used to determine:

  • the effective permeability of a faulted reservoir sequence,

  • the effective recovery factor from a fluvial reservoir,

  • the uncertainty in predictions implicit in using these values.

An example of a gas field is given using these methods together with a convential reservoir simulator.
