In reservoir simulation, software referred to as a well management program is used to set well rates and/or pressures for the reservoir model. A well management program for use in modelling multiplatform, multi-reservoir North Sea fields has been developed to allow Esso engineers to investigate alternative field production plans by altering platform facility constraints and field controls. It has been used by Esso in reservoir simulation studies of the complex Brent field in the U.K. North Sea.
