To carry out commissioning on dual fuel turbine driven generation power plant and electrical distribution equipment at the fabrication yard prior to installation in the UK sector of the North Sea.

To achieve this objective it was decided in the early stage of design to install the main generators, switchgear and all necessary controls for the main power distribution in one Module.

POWER MODULE LAYOUT

The module was divided by a mezzanine floor – on the lower level was installed the five main dual fuel turbine driven alternator units, with their associated control equipment.

On the mezzanine floor the high and low voltage switchgear was installed, along with the main transformers, synchronising panel and battery charger and batteries for the switchgear tripping and closing circuits.

For layout see Appendix 11.2

EQUIPMENT RATINGS
Main Turbine/Generators

The main turbine/generator units consisted of five Ruston TB:5000 turbines, with GEC Ltd alternators rated at 3.2 MW at 6.6 KV, 60 HZ, 0.8 pf.

High Voltage Switchgear/MCC

The High Voltage Switchgear and Motor Control Centre consisted of one complete unit, with the switchgear section located in the centre and the motor control centres to the right and left.
