From worldwide underground hydrocarbon storage fields in rock salt, we can notice a vast diversity of cavern shapes, sometimes displayed on a certain array pattern, in different geological structures, namely in dome or bedded salt formations. This work intends to study the influence on volume loss of several parameters, such as the cavern shape and cavities7 spacing, together with temperature gradient and rheological factors. Influence of the geometrical parameters appears to be less important than expected. However all results should depend highly on the level of non linearity of rock salt under analysis.
