The majority of fracturing treatments are designed from uncertain input data. Improvements in future treatments are slow or nonexistent when little is done to decrease these uncertainties. This paper demonstrates how a modest data collection program has led to improved hydraulic fracture design in a low permeability oil reservoir. The objectives of this program were to gather data that would lead to more effective fracturing treatments and to do so in a cost effective manner.
