ABSTRACT
Analysis of production data from the Eastern Devonian Gas Shales has shown that certain reservoir characteristics correlate with observed well performance. This result led to an investigation to determine whether some combination of these characteristics in dimensionless form could be used to construct a general set of Devonian Shale production data analysis type curves. This paper presents the results of this Investigation.
A set of dimensionless production performance graphs, or type curves, has been constructed using an analytical dual-porosity reservoir model. Although developed specifically for Devonian Shale gas wells, these curves apply generally to longterm production data from dual-porosity reservoirs. These type curves can be used to analyze long-term production data. From results of this analysis, it is possible to determine certain reservoir characteristics and to predict future performance. Example applications of the type curves to typical Devonian Shale wells are presented in this paper.
