ABSTRACT
This paper describes how advanced visualisation techniques may be used to link the work of geologists and reservoir engineers, who traditionally view reservoir description in different ways. We outline these two approaches, and show that they fundamentally differ in utilising available data, particularly when there is uncertainty over the reservoir description. We then argue that in such cases the approaches may be linked using geostatistical modelling techniques, and that these techniques are most effectively used in conjunction with advanced 3D visualisation methods. We describe the development and use of one such application, illustrating our description with suitable examples.
