Abstract
We introduce and discuss a model for fines mobilization, migration and clogging in porous media based on the convection-diffusion equation. Our model contains two fields: The concentration of fine particles deposited on the pore walls and the concentration of fines suspended in the ambient liquid. The model contains four parameters - or seven if certain non-linearities in the clogging process are important. We discuss the physical contents of the model and test it numerically in two dimensions.
