Chevron UK Limited (CUK) implemented a performance driven strategy commencing in 1991 based upon core alliance agreements enabled by metrics, benchmarking, and operational scanning to optimize well engineering and operations (WEO), all organized around a set of core processes. This strategy was initiated in response to new field developments, continued operations in mature fields, and the maturing of the North Sea as a producing area with emphasis on performance and cost management. It was implemented over a period of four years for the core competencies of WEO including well construction (WC) (drilling) and well management (WM) (workovers). The results of this strategy will be reviewed.
