ABSTRACT
This paper describes the practice adopted by Shell Internationale Petroleum Maatschappij (SIPM) for the site specific assessment of jack-ups in elevated condition. In particular it addresses the structural engineering considerations that lead to a systematic approach for site specific analysis, condition assessment and condition monitoring of the jack-up structure. Experience with the approach has shown that through proper planning and timely execution of the work there needs to be little or no disturbance to the schedule of normal drilling operations.
