Abstract

The following paper describes a system that facilitates the creation of a machine-understandable representation of well construction operating procedures, and a runtime component which automatically identifies, from sensor data, the degree of compliance to those operating procedures. The procedures define a sequence of operations and operating limits that should be adhered to for an operation time interval.

The constructed system automates the processing of sensor, data and facilitates an analysis of the level of adherence to operating procedures during the well construction process. It also illuminates when and where deviations from the intended or expected processes occur.
