Installation of a small diameter velocity string (VS) is often necessary in tight gas wells to resolve liquid loading problems. Coiled Tubing (CT) is commonly used as a velocity string conduit due to safe live-well installations and speed. A technique is being applied in which wells are cleaned out with coiled tubing which is then hung off as a velocity string in one trip. The wells are left flowing during the entire operation so that the wells are not loaded up completely and off production after the operation. A new coiled tubing hanger was designed and utilized such that two well control barriers are maintained during the operation. This paper will review the equipment package and the installation process.
