An objective of current paper is to provide a brief explanation and guidance on local regulatory requirements applicable to oil and gas projects in Republic of Kazakhstan (hereafter - RoK or Kazakhstan).

The scope of this paper comprises the following:

  • An essential information about the Regulatory Compliance in Kazakhstan

  • Main regulatory requirements during the project development

  • Useful notes in respect to regulatory compliance

  • Main peculiarities of RoK regulations

It is not an intention of this paper to detail each regulatory aspect and requirement; rather, the intent is to define the main important aspects and provide the clear vision on regulatory compliance to oil & gas companies working in Kazakhstan.

Marketing, tax and labour regulatory requirements are not considered in current paper at all.
