Integration of all available data in history matching of reservoir modeling requires continuous effort by multidisciplinary teams. Availability and quality of input data, reservoir complexity, level of detail and effort used to construct the model can validate the model and support its following use for planning purposes.

This paper will cover such data integration; focusing on 4D data to improve well modelling and consequently achieve a better history match for the Grane Field reservoir simulation model.

The Grane heavy oil field; located in the Norwegian part of the North Sea, has been successfully produced since the start-up in September 2003. The present recovery factor is estimated at 50% with an ambition of ultimate recovery as high as 70%.

In Grane, a 4D Monitoring program was initiated in 2005 to map reservoir dynamics. After 5 repeated streamer monitors, a permanent reservoir monitoring (PRM) system was installed in 2014. By today seven PRM acquisitions have been completed. The data that is used in this study includes both 3D and 4D seismic data, production logging tool data (PLTs), pressure data and production history data. A cross-disciplinary history matching of the Grane dynamic reservoir model has clearly added value, as the model can now be used with greater accuracy when conducting simulation studies.
