Various well intervention techniques are used to enhance well productivity during the lifetime of a well. In general, perforation and stimulation retrievable bridge plugs are used for isolating zones during workover. Traditionally, retrievable plugs are recovered using wireline jars or powered mechanical shifting tools. During pulling or pushing operation, very limited information, such as surface cable tension, is available to the operator. In recent years, a new generation of wireline intervention tools has been introduced that enable real-time measurement and control of anchor force, anchor diameter, pull/push force, stroke length, stroke speed, and wellbore temperature and pressure.

This paper describes the application of real-time measurements in a recent operation in the Norwegian Sea.
