Abstract
Several liquid/liquid hydrocyclones and disc-stack centrifuges were evaluated to determine their performance in removing dispersed oil and to establish the domain of their operation. Results of pilot tests at the Westhollow Technology Center and the full-scale field trials in GOM are summarized. Based on these results, flow diagrams to integrate hydrocyclones and disc-stack centrifuges into a production separation facility are recommended. Best practices are also outlined to handle, treat, and dispose of produced water effectively.
