Abstract
This paper reviews Opec’s current standing, its limitations, the impact of geopolitics, and the organization’s future, particularly its new role as a major supplier of natural gas.
Up to now, many Opec producers have neglected their natural gas sector and failed to develop the required infrastructure and local or regional markets.
For strategic purposes consistent with their political goals, several Opec members upgraded their reserves of oil and natural gas, sometimes without any dependable link between oil and associated gas.
