Abstract
API RP 750, Management of Process Hazards, which does not include offshore facilities in its scope specifies the elements required of a safety management system. It is possible to comply with RP 750 by revising an existing API Recommended Practice and making minor revisions to existing safety systems already in use by most offshore operators. This paper describes how this can be accomplished in such a manner as to derive the benefits of having a safety management system, without subjecting the industry to an unnecessary and counterproductive burden of documentation.
