ABSTRACT
This paper describes the successful application of an additive consisting mainly of sodium metasilicate in a steam soak operation. Numerous wells tested with a small concentration of the additive responded favorably. Laboratory testing of the additive has established that the alkaline nature of the additive is most effective under prolonged exposure to acidic crude at high temperatures.
