Abstract
This paper compares instructor led training versus classroom inversion for two courses taught at Exxon Mobil Corporation ("ExxonMobil"). We discuss training elements such as total training hours, pre/post-test results, and student satisfaction surveys. The most important findings are:
Student and supervisor behaviors need to change when learning is transformed from an event to an extended journey
Greater effort is required to prepare for and monitor the progress of students
Classroom efficiencies can be realized and the quality of instruction enriched with inversion
The effectiveness of learning was comparable to that of a conventional classroom
