Pressure and fluid data acquired during the exploration and appraisal of the Wanaea and Cossack oilfields revealed unexpected anomalies that could not immediately be explained. A multidisciplinary team was established to examine all the data in order to formulate an appropriate geological model and to assess the implications for the proposed development of these fields. The weight of evidence supported a model involving a dynamic aquifer.
