Some of the oily produced water can't be reinjected, there are nearly 20 thousand cubic meters oily sewage being drained every day now in Shengli oilfield. The oil content of the drained sewage is above 300ppm, and the COD is about 250—480mg/l. In order to protect environment, the sewage must be treated before venting. This paper describes the method of microbial processing oily sewage. We applied the hydrocarbon deterioration bacterial with gas lift processing to treat the oily sewage. After the treatment, the oil content was reduced to 10ppm while COD was cut down to lower than 120mg/l. This microbiological process improved the drained water's quality, reduced the impact to the environment.
