This paper describes an integrated approach of building subsurface models for a complex, faulted marginal oil field in the Balingian acreage operated by Sarawak Shell. For the field described in this paper, the modelling highlights that sand development, fault compartmentalisation and internal shale baffles are the foremost important modelling parameters that have significant impact on the production. The impact of subsurface uncertainties has been quantified in terms of production using proprietary reservoir modelling software. The quantification of the impact of associated uncertainties defines the requirements for a surface structure and allows evaluation of the value of investments that are aimed at reducing the uncertainties.
