Huge reserves of hydrocarbons at the Kara Sea offshore region which is adjacent to the west coast of the Yamal Peninsula are to be developed in the nearest years. This large oil and gas area has prospective resources about 56 trillion barrels of oil equivalents (boe). The Russia Federation has not other regions with similar concentrations of the undeveloped hydrocarbons.
