A new steel cutting process has been invented and developed, by EnergynTech, Inc., which significantly increases the cutting speed of steel, and reduces the labor cost through automation of the operation. The specialized automated equipment can be used in a scrapping shipyard for dismantling ships or off-shore structures which are moved to a shipyard. In a mobile or portable implementation can be used on-board for scrapping operations. This new process was developed in a U.S. Navy funded Small Business Innovation Research project, the goal of which was to increase the productivity of the scrapping of decommissioned nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers, and reduce the environmental impact of that activity.
