Structural tests were performed for several padeye shapes where the test specimens were loaded to failure at three angles. Nonlinear finite element analysis was also performed for each of the structural tests and the results from each were used to develop a computer program in Microsoft Excel to determine padeye force capacity for three potential modes of failure: shear, tension, and bending. The output from the Excel program was then compared against another set of structural tests of padeyes. The results show that the program is easy to use with minimal input and provides good overall comparisons to the measured failure loads from the structural tests.
