In this work, a semi-analytical approach is developed to support experimental design for a flexible wedge water entry test. Hydrodynamic loads are estimated using the classic Wagner (1932) approach, as well as the matched asymptotic expansion approach presented by Armand and Cointe (1986); Howison et al. (1991). The hydrodynamic models are coupled to a linear finite element beam model through a relationship between spray root location and the local deflection. Results of a validation study comparing model predictions to experiments described in Ren et al. (2019a); Javaherian et al. (2019) are presented and future work is discussed.
